Supervisor v24.2.0 – Major release!

What’s new

  • The Supervisor app has a fully redesigned UI/UX that is more user-friendly and provides a better user experience. All the following screens have been redesigned:

    • Welcome screen

    • Login / Registration / Password reset screens

    • Settings screens

    • Spot check screens

    • Age verification screens

    • Home screen

  • The Supervisor app now supports a new notification type: call-for-assistance! This notification is sent to the Supervisor when a shopper at the SCO taps the Request for Help button.

  • The main screen has a more concise overview of shoppers in the store. Each shopper is represented by a card with the number of items in their cart, and possible actions to take when they check out. Waiting customers have timers that show how long they have been waiting for assistance.

  • If the device has a Hardware Scanner available (laser-based), it can be used to complete spot checks faster using the laser scanner. Hold the side hardware buttons to scan product barcodes as usual, and the Supervisor app will guide you through the process.

    • The toggle to switch between hardware and camera scanner is available in the Settings section.

Improvements

  • The Supervisor app logs some internal activity for easier remote support if needed.

  • Push notifications to the Supervisor app are now more reliable by using the Firebase Messaging token system.

    • Provide the app with the required permission for the app to properly operate with such notifications: android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS, android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE, android.permission.SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW, android.permission.REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS

    • For Android 13 and above, the application will ask to have the push notification runtime permission granted.

  • Push notifications can be canceled by the backend if another Supervisor user already acknowledged an action.

  • The settings to allow app notifications and battery optimization exemption are now displayed in the settings hidden menu. The app notifications toggle guides users to the app’s notification settings if they are disallowed overall or to a specific channel if they are disabled. The battery optimization exemption toggle guides users to the app’s dialog and menu to allow or deny the exemption.

  • If devices have trouble connecting to Google Messaging Services, after a number of retries, the Supervisor app will show the notification with a suggestion to restart the device.
