p links are used to send users directly to an app after completing an action in an app. These links can also take users to specific in-app locations, which improves the user experience and the clarity of a process.
When it comes to payment, we want the process to be as clear and smooth as possible.
When you integrate the ShopremeCore SDK, you have the possibility of offering various payment methods, including some payment providers that require a banking app on the shopper’s device. In a case like this, when the shopper taps “Pay”, they will be redirected to the banking app when selecting that particular payment method. Then, once the payment is completed in the banking app, the shopper will need to return to the shopreme Scan & Go app to find the receipt and complete the checkout process.
Comparing the old and the new process
In a process without deep links, notice that the user needs to manually switch apps to return to the original Scan & Go app and complete the purchase and see the “Success” screen.

This could be confusing to some users and could lead to a decrease in the conversion rate. Switching between many apps could also cause one to accidentally close an app and end up in an unclear state in the payment process.
When deep links between apps are implemented, the shopper will not need to swap between apps, and the redirection will be automatic. Shoppers will not see a webview when leaving their banking app. After their payment is successful in the banking app, they will be taken back to Scan & Go with the typical “Success” screen, an animation, and the final receipt.

How to implement deep links
To start the process of implementing deep links, there could be some adjustments to be done on the backend for specific payment providers and payment methods. Please get in touch with your shopreme integration consultant to discuss the available options and ensure compatibility.
This feature requires that your shopreme backend is newer than 2023-06-30.
On the SDK side, this feature is available starting with SDK version 2.2.1, for both Android and iOS. Please visit the guides for each platform to learn more about the implementation once your backend is updated.
